The all-Democrat Delaware County Council [the one that said it’s been committed to transparency and listening to constituents] has moved to cut one of its two public comment periods during its meetings for 2025. In fact, in one of the meetings last year, Delaware County Councilwoman called the public comment periods “open mic night,” insulting the constituents who came up to speak about the different issues impacting them in the county. Clearly, Councilwoman Reuther didn’t want to hear from her constituents.
The Delaware Valley Journal covered this news in an article and carried a quote from our Chairman, Michael Straw: “Delaware County Council clearly wants to make sure it hears the bare minimum from its constituents. They don’t want to hear from people after they voted to raise our taxes by 23 percent last month. It’s shameful.”
